Celebrating my 30th Birthday at The Trump Hotel Toronto

My husband is horrible at keeping secrets. He's also not the event-planning type. In fact, he'd much rather just provide his feedback and a throw out a few solid ideas but sit and watch everything come into play.
It's also not common for me to not be in total control for once. To have someone completely plan something without me having any say (or knowledge of it to be more precise) -- I don't like surprises.
Well, the tables did turn for me this past August 30th.
It was a monumental occasion, my Champagne 30th!
And my dear, sweet, wonderful husband outlined and coordinated my entire birthday... on his very own... without me knowing anything... every last detail.

I knew we were heading out to dinner that night in Downtown Toronto with my children (there's no way I would celebrate my 30th Birthday without my greatest gifts!) but that was pretty much all I did know.
To my surprise, my husband drove right into The Trump Hotel.

Service was remarkable from the moment our vehicle landed on Trump Toronto grounds.
The valet was exceptional and we were greeted at the front lobby immediately by Mr. and Mrs. Gomez.
Now that's first-class service. As how it should be when you enter a hotel.

I was bedazzled by the ravishing Swarovski bling that adorned the Concierge/Front Check-in Wall.

Little did I know I would be awestruck by what was to come.
What I saw upon entering our gorgeous 1 Bedroom Deluxe Suite took my breath away!

My husband had a dozen beautiful Long-Stem Roses, my favourite treat - Macarons, chilling Moet Champagne and a stunning Paris Cake he designed on his own from my favourite bakery, Swirls Cupcakes, waiting for me upon arrival.
I was so pleasantly surprised and at the brink of tears!
This was honestly the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me for any of my birthdays to date and I couldn't believe how much he put into making my 30th Birthday extra special.

One thing he also knows about me is that I loved the design features of The Trump Toronto Hotel.
Designed by Ivanka Trump with Chic and Contemporary Elegance in mind -- every corner of our Suite was alluring.
From the paint colours to the furniture to the decor pieces -- so lavish! Yet, at the same time, it was charmingly warm and cozy.

I love that Trump Toronto is social! Check out this cute (and yummy) welcome spread!

The Bedroom was separate from the spacious Living Room which featured beautiful furniture pieces including a Sofa Bed, a European Style Wet Bar, a Fireplace with LCD Flat-Screen HDTV, a Desk with wired and wireless Internet Access and near the entrance was also a Powder Room.

A very notable feature is their Trump Attaché. More than a concierge or butler, Trump Attaché delivers personalized attention without intrusion, offering a comprehensive brand of VIP treatment on request, and even sometimes before it.

The bedroom was also exquisite with a large King Bed with Italian Bellino Linen, Bedside touch panel control for lighting and window fashions (because being wonderfully slothful at the Trump is encouraged), and an amazing bathroom!

The luxurious stone bathroom featured a deep soaking tub, a separate shower with rainfall shower head (I LOVED this!), Stone-topped dual sink vanities and magnifying mirror, In-mirror bathroom TV (this was also pretty awesome!) and heated floor option!

But what I really was happily amazed to learn was how particularly kid-friendly The Trump Hotel was!
You would think luxury and kid-friendly would not go hand in hand but this wasn't the case here.

There were gift packages wrapped and ready for the kids filled with yummy treats and an adorable plush toy as part of their Trump Kids program and also a backpack for each with colouring book and crayons.

The bedroom was already ready with a crib for our son and in it included another little plush toy for him to sleep with and baby bath and body products. Oh, and they didn't forget the importance of keeping the diaper stinkies at bay - they even had a diaper pail available!
That, my friends, is how you know they were very much prepared.

We had a scrumptious In-Room Dinner from Stock Toronto and decided to try out their Summer Menu.

It was delightful!

After some R&R in my comfy Trump Robe and Slippers, a dip in their Infinity Salt Water Lap Pool located on the 32nd floor was a must.
It offers guests a heated, natural salt infinity-edge lap pool and whirlpool overlooking the Toronto skyscape.

Before the night ended, I made a wish and blew my out my candle. And of course had some of that delicious cake and a glass of champagne! Did I mention Trump provided us with sparklers for that added touch for the cake? Once again, above and beyond.

The day was perfection and I wouldn't change a thing!
Turndown service included bottles of Evian Water and little boxes of decadent pretty chocolate in boxes.

The next morning, we started the day off with In-Room Breakfast and of course a cup of warm Nespresso Coffee (Nespresso Coffee Machine is offered in the suite).

My birthday weekend was beyond magical and impeccable.
I am so grateful for my loving husband to have conjured up such a remarkable and unforgettable milestone birthday celebration.
And of course, my birthday weekend would not have been complete without the splendid accommodations at The Trump Hotel. Everyone went above and beyond to accommodate my husbands requests during the planning stages and during my family`s stay.
I honestly would not have selected a better hotel to have celebrated such an event.
Thank you to all that helped make my Champagne 30th Birthday extraordinary!

Countdown to Champagne 30

It's exactly 11:11 p.m. -- less than an hour till midnight, till my 30th Birthday. A truly prodigious occasion!
It's not every day that one turns 30 on the 30th!

I'm thrilled and excitedly anticipating turning 30 and as much as the 20's has been a fun ride, I know in my heart -- I can just feel it -- that my 30's is going to offer me many more sweet and cherished memories that will shape not only my future but those around me, my loved ones, my family.

The past 29 years has definitely been a roller-coaster of fascinating and joyous and also melancholy memories.
But I don't regret one. single. thing.
As cliché as it sounds, it's just so true. Every thing, every person, every experience I have encountered in my life - good and bad - has made me the woman that I am today.
Some may think you're only turning 30; the fun has yet to begin! But I have to say I'm pretty darn proud of where I am today and how much I have already accomplished at this tender age.

When I was a teenager, I always said to myself that I would have had a successful career, be married, have children, own a home, seen the Eiffel Tower before my 30's -- check, check, check, check, check.
The things I really wanted the most, I've already been blessed with and for that I am so grateful.
10 years ago I would never have known I would be where I am today -- be as happy and content as I am.

So I may not have the traveled all over the world yet, or become fluent in more than 3 languages or learned to master some form of ballroom dance but hey, I've got many more years to come and I know that my 30's will offer me the opportunities I desire, even some that will come unexpectedly. Because isn't that always the case?
So bring it 30's! I'm so totally ready for you. Champagne in hand! Cheers!

Parisian Soirée: Paris-Themed Event Inspiration

Wouldn't it be most splendid to ring in my Champagne 30th Birthday with the la tour Eiffel shimmering in the background?
However, our budget this year unfortunately will not allow my dreams of a Party in Paris to materialize.
That does not mean I can't bring Paris to me!

As my 30th birthday approaches, classic Carol of course is already googling and thinking about how I can make my day extra special. It's only 9 weeks and 4 days away.....

I know I shouldn't even be the one handling this (it's my birthday after all), but the event planner in me just can't help it!
I may not even have a big shindig, but a gal can dream and conjure up the perfect Parisian party in my head can't I? Sure I can.

If you love Paris as much as I do, and are looking for some très beau inspiration, look no further!
I scoured the net trying to find chic and lovely Parisian-themed party ideas without it being overly chichi or childish.
Check out my vision boards below (click on photo for larger image)!

What's a Parisian Party without pâtisseries délicieuses?

And of course, there needs to be lots of fresh and darling flowers too!

You will surely make this an event you will never forget!
Paris is always a good idea.

Birthday Wishes to a Dr of Giggles & Imagination

I remember growing up reading every single one of Dr. Seuss' books
It's amazing that many years later, his stories have continued to transcend through the generations and persevere in teaching us all about imagination, kindness, humbleness, confidence & laughter.

My absolute favourite books from Dr. Seuss are: The Seven Lady Godivas (1939), The Cat in The Hat (1957), Green Eggs & Ham (1960), Oh The Thinks you can Think (1975), Oh The Places You'll Go (1990).

Can you believe Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel's first book was published in 1937? Wow! That was 75 years ago! Today would mark his 108th birthday!
My great-grandparents read his words and now my daughter is too. Literary Genius!

It takes a remarkable and distinctive virtuoso to come up with words that would echo a lifetime. And that he did.

What was your favourite Dr. Seuss book and quote?

Happy Birthday Princess Ava!

This past Saturday, the 29th of October, we celebrated the birth of our precious little girl.
It's been 3 years to the day that the most cherished and important part of us entered our lives.
For those that have suffered or are still suffering from infertility, you know how much more momentous and anticipated this occasion was.

We invited our most closest family & friends into our home to celebrate this day with us.
The house was filled with lots of pink, balloons, decorative pompoms, decadent desserts, delicious food, fun and laughter. And most of all, great energy.

Our theme this year was a Cute Fall/Owl theme considering her birthday is in Fall.
Our giveaways were gourmet chocolate/caramel covered apples (very fitting for the theme) which were created by  Eliscia from Sweet Tooth Platters in Brampton.
Our beautiful and delicious cake was created by the team at Swirls Cupcakes in Streetsville. They are our go-to cake artist's for most of our events. It was a vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream filling and fresh strawberries (Ava's fave).
We ordered a massive bouncy castle from Party Inflatables in Mississauga and beautiful balloons and decor from Party Packagers & Michael's Arts & Crafts Store.

Overall, it was an absolutely perfect day -- sun was shining (despite the weather forecast for rain), and most importantly, our little girl had an amazing time.
Thanks to all those that helped us in celebrating and made this day extra special for Ava.
