Liven up Your Lampshade with Dress a Shade + #Giveaway

I'm very much into interior design.  I don't mean to "toot my own horn" but I've had many people ask me for my opinion when decorating their home, even had my real estate agent ask me if I wanted to work with him as a home stager after seeing how our home was designed.
Very flattering for sure!

To be honest, it comes very natural to me.  I seem to just be able to look at a space (like an empty canvas) and come up with ingenious and inviting ways to jazz it up.
And believe me, it doesn't take an arm and a leg to decorate your home.

Let me ask you something. What do you do with your old lamp shades?  You know those ones that are so old and out-dated.
Do you store them to collect cob webs or just throw them away?

We all know how pricey beautiful lamps are -- both the base and the shade.
And there's no denying the impact a decor piece such as a lamp can do for your interior space.

I came across this clever company called Dress a Shade that creates custom lamp shade slipcovers and trimming and was instantly intrigued.

Ordering your custom lamp shade slipcover on either their Etsy shop is quick and easy. All they require are the measurements of your lamp (top, bottom and height), you choose which slipcover you're interested in (they provide detailed images so crisp that you are able to really see the texture and design of the slipcover well) and check-out. Simple.

They have a great selection of designs; I chose the Couture Noir slipcover.  It's a crisp modern yet sophisticated black & white design made of stretch nylon lace.

Their slipcovers are priced at $26.68 CDN.
I think that's a good price point for a reusable cover that can totally transform your lamp instead of splurging on a brand new shade.
And if you've got tons of old lamp shades lying around, this is a genious way to bring them back to life.

I have this older desk lamp that I received from my mother in law a few years ago that I still use in my home office.  It's very classy with a lovely black base and the shade is a cone-shaped plain gold colour.

It was nice... years ago, but it seems very blah-zay to me now but after adding my new custom Dress a Shade slip cover, what a difference!

To see their collection of slip covers and if you're potentially interested in purchasing a slip cover, you can visit them at their Etsy Shop here.
Also visit them on Facebook for more updates.

Here's a better picture of the after.

It's alive! So pretty, right?

I want to give one of my readers a chance to bring one of their old lamp shades back to life with a custom lamp shade slipcover of their own.
