Regenerating My Body with Raw Juice Guru

I love food. I delight over dessert and I like to enjoy my daily glass of red wine and the occasional cocktail every now and then.

4 and a half months after giving birth to my 2nd child and pretty much eating to my heart's content during my entire pregnancy plus bouncing back from the nonchalant Holiday indulgences, I just knew that the time was now to do regenerate my body somehow.
You know that gut feeling -- and I mean that in a literal sense too... yeah that.

I have been hearing about this juice cleanse pretty much everywhere and have always been curious about owning a juicer of my own one day.
I love fruits and some veggies; in fact smoothies happen to be a favourite of mine and usually my go-to for a quick fix in my hectic day.

I was introduced to Raw Juice Guru and decided I would give it a shot for 3 days.
Three days drinking juices only... not so bad, right? So I thought.

So what is a Juice Cleanse you ask?

Juice Feasting is where you replace all of your meals with freshly-made vegetable and fruit juices.
You are basically drinking 3 to 4 litres unlimited fresh organic fruit and vegetable raw juices every day which includes 6-8 16oz (500ml) Organic Cold Pressed juices plus 2 tonic/elixir 1-2oz, and a detoxifying Tea. The juices are to be drank every 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Example of what you would receive every day to your door.

During a Juice Feast you turn off your digestion, sending it on a vacation, and allowing your body to heal itself on a cellular level.
Really? Is that even healthy?

Cold Pressed Fresh Organic all natural Raw Juices, cleanse your body and mind on a cellular level. Giving your digestion a break, so all your cells can heal and detoxify all the toxins and waste stored in your body.

Okay, so like dieting? A juice diet that is.
No. Juice feasting cleanse is not a diet, it heals, it nourishes and regenerates your whole body.

Okay so I was sold.

What I liked about this was that they make these juices fresh before they personally deliver straight to your door DAILY. And best of all, the juice feasting cleanse is tailored and customized to your needs, ailments, concerns and goals.
After all not every body is the same.

Eliane, the Mastermind behind Raw Juice Guru, is so open and available to you from the get-go and helped and supported me as much as I needed.  She's truly awesome!

Okay so I jumped on board and warned everyone near and dear to me in advance that for the next three days should they bring or even mention anything remotely delicious in front of me that I was not responsible for turning the Green Monster that is Carol on a Detox on them.

So the first day that the juices were sent to my door did not count as I totally forgot about the cleanse and enjoyed my morning cup of coffee.
SO, Eliane told me to keep in my fridge and start the next day.

The following morning I mentally prepped myself, meditated, breathed and prayed to the Juice Gods that I would be able to get through this day on not only strictly juice but NO COFFEE.
Scary.
To make this more interesting, my baby boy was sick with a cold and my rambunctious daughter also needed me so I had to muster up as much energy as I could to care for them.

There I was, bright and early on Day 1 with my first juice smiling all confidently.
Juice 1 on Day 1 was actually not so bad.
I was cringing on my 2nd juice.

To make a long story short, by the end of day 1 I was slowly craving for even just a small bite of something.
By the end of Day 2, everything around me irritated me and even my husband's head looked like a giant meatball.
I was ready to throw in the towel by mid-day on Day 2.

Surprisingly by Day 3, I had a surprising surge of energy in the morning and was actually not craving anything.
The juices actually even started tasting better!

One of my favourite Juices on Day 3 of Cleanse. Yum!

The day after (Day 4), which is also the first day off of the cleanse, I felt remarkably lighter and... cleaner.  I didn't even want to have my morning coffee. I know... say what?

This was not easy at all but trust me when I tell you that I feel a whole lot better after only just 3 days, I can only imagine what more than that would have done.  I was ready to keep going after Day 3!
If I can do it, you can totally do it!

I would recommend you try them out for three days first and if you like it, go ahead and continue.  They've also got other Cleanses, Programs and a Juice Bar available including Smoothies and even Child-Friendly Juices!
Eliane was kind enough to include 2 Child-Friendly Juices on Day 2 and Day 3 of my cleanse for my four year old daughter to try and she absolutely LOVED it.  No word of a lie.

Overall it was interesting those 3 days but I don't know if I want to do it again anytime soon.
I love food my food way too much.
However, I did enjoy some of the juices, my daughter loved the kiddie juices and I really want to try their smoothies so I think I will be giving them a call soon for those!

Weighty Wednesday

So instead of a Wordless Wednesday (very hard for me to be "wordless"), I decided to make this a Weighty Wednesday. Yes, that would be me. Not holding my breath, trying to look, well, weighty. :p
I don't need to try because I really do feel frumpy and I'm definite that I packed on some pounds the past few days. Not only has my workout regimen been inanimate the past few days (I use to workout everyday!), my lazy butt has been consuming foods that are not even close to being healthy.
You think I'm exaggerating? Seriously, cupcakes, chocolates, pasta, white rice, soda, cocktails... shall I continue? You get the picture. Bad food.
And what you probably don't know (or you may know) is that I suffer from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which is an endocrine disorder that makes it twice as hard to lose weight.  It's basically as if I was pre-diabetic.
I shouldn't be touching too many sweets and carbohydrates at all!
Starting today I shall begin what I call my "detox". Please consult your physician before doing anything I mention because I'm no doctor and this isn't a detox that I can guarantee will in fact, detoxify. It's just something I kinda, sorta, made-up on my own but it works for me!

I am huge on Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness smoothies. They are packed with veggies and fruits to last you a whole day in a cup!
I sip on this drink throughout the day and eliminate carbohydrates (well, I can have very little), up my fiber intake and drink lots of water in between. Plenty of small meals/snacks throughout the day so my body doesn't shut down on me. And coffee is allowed!
I do this for 2-3 days until my system no longer craves the bad food. And it really does work for me!
It's all a mind thing. Tricking my body to not being so hungry and craving the bad stuff.
We'll see how it goes. Can't guarantee anything because the upcoming weekends are jam-packed with gatherings and fun (which includes tons of yummy food). *sigh*

What do you usually do to detoxify?
