I remember watching The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and thinking to myself: There is no way women of different shape can fit into one size fits all jeans.
Imagine a clothing line that would provide only one size... for all?
Crazy, right? It would look weird.
I know that when shopping clothing from Japan or Korea, they usually offer 'One Size' tops which is the norm as they make it rather large. But, the 'One size' in Japan & Korea is still rather small for many average women in Canada and the US.
But it wasn't until I learned of Luved Clothing, a Toronto based clothing line that designs clothes to look great on all body shapes.
Luved's versatile garments fit women's individual forms in a style that is distinctive and does not discriminate against their natural shape and size. The garments come ina variety of styles and colours and are designed so they can be transformed to function as casual daywear or sophisticated evening wear.
I came across this brand from the 2011 She's Connected Conference this past September. I shared a table with Lisa (aka @FabFrugalMama on Twitter) who was sporting one top from Luved Clothing and I was allured by the design and functionality of the top. It was able to be manipulated in different ways to create a different look and on top of that looked comfortable yet stylish. Sometimes those two words don't go hand in hand.
Okay, now Lisa is a slender woman (kudos to her after children!), and after looking at the website & seeing the models wear them, they looked amazing but again, typical, tall, slender women.
I'm not a large woman but I'm short and after my first child, still carrying those "extra lbs". :p
Was I a bit skeptical as to whether this would fit me right? Yes. Yes, I was.
Luved Clothing graciously sent me the lovely LEO cape in dusty green. It comes in Stormy Blue, Soft Pink and Heathered Black as well.
As soon as I tried it on, I was in love with how warm and comfy I felt in it. I paired it with leggings, a long tee & black leather knee high boots (and a necklace) and wore it out to the coffee shop with Ty.
It looked great and not like the typical pull-over capes. It wasn't so thick (even though it kept me warm & toasty), so I didn't even have to remove it when sitting in the coffee shop.
It's an effortless add-on to create your outfit. Fall & Winter are all about layering and this is a great piece for layering.
Here I am with my stylish & comfy LEO cape.
*Please excuse the photo quality - was taken with my smartphone in the dark. :p*
I was so comfortable in it, I also sleep in it (replaced my pajama top!). :)
The only thing that I was iffy about was that the hood was a little too big, but I guess that's the style?
Like I mentioned, I'm a shorty (5'3) so I still kind of felt that it was a little too long for my liking. It's a must you wear heels/boots with this cape if you're on the shorter side because the length of the cape will make you look shorter!
Aside from those minor issues, I was thoroughly impressed and I would definitely recommend Luved Clothing to all my friends and family.
