Oh how we love our little ones but man are those dirty diapers deadly!
Nobody warned me about teething poopies. What are teething poopies you ask?
Google this: Teething and more pooping.
My 12 month old son has been teething for the past few months but most recently within the last month till now (he's a late teether), he's been having a disproportionate amount of dirty diapers.
Way more than what I'm use to.
Initially I thought Is he sick? Should I take him to see the doctor?
But then a close friend that is also a nurse and works with family doctors all the time reassured me that this is very normal. As long as his #2's were not diarrhea (super watery), have blood or black then there's nothing to worry about.
*phew*
I knew he was OK, a mother's instinct always knows, because he ate well, he was in good spirits and totally normal... just extra poop!
And some of those extra poops were dangerous, explosive ones. Like the ones that would shoot up to baby's upper back or all over his thighs. Yeah, that kind. My fellow moms totally know what I'm talking about.
With all of that came the green-eyed diaper monster... diaper rash.
It was a bad one too.
We changed up our entire diaper-changing routine to accommodate our baby's sore bum which included complete removal of baby wipes (we now use sensitive wipes which work best for my son's sensitive skin) and only cleaned him with water.
After many failed attempts with different diaper rash creams and concoctions, I finally found the best one that worked for our sons rash: Equal parts cornstarch and vaseline. Mix them together and apply after a change (air dry for a bit to remove excess moisture).
We now use plain old cornstarch after each change and stay far away from any scented wipes or baby powder and it's doing the trick!
Here is how my diaper-changing station looks like on an average day (well, usually a little more messier than this!)
I'm sure I'm not the only mom with a bunch of interesting stories!
During the week of Sept. 23, the Playtex Mommyville Facebook page will be dedicated to Diaper Diaries, where fans can share their stories with others, creating a fun and informative dialogue all about the challenges of motherhood.

I have a lot of stories but the worst one was when we were visiting my in-laws for dinner.
Left one of the dirty diapers out (and open) on my mother-in-laws bed and my Father-in-law accidentally plopped down on it!
My diaper store: Projectile poop! When my son was just 3 weeks go, he had the worse projectile poop EVER. As I was slipping a new diaper under him, he decided he wasn't done yet and splattered poop all the way to the other side of the wall.
Poop squirts! While changing my 3 day old son, he squirted poop into my husbands face, hilarious because it wasn't me!
Changing my newborn boy and having him pee on me the first time!
My sister is having another baby so she would love to have this!
Although I'm not a mom, I'm an aunt and I've got a lot of diaper diary worthy stories!
Changing my dear nephews diaper for the first time, nobody told me about baby boys and peeing. Well, let's just say my nephew is a straight-shooter. My face was drenched!
My friends that are Moms tell me about diaper leaks, explosions, and well poop everywhere eek haha. I am expecting my first little bundle of love this late Fall, so I would love to win this great prize. Thanks for the chance, twitter fan@plumerea
Well my advice is be patient as you can and they grow up all too fast...enjoy what time you have even the hard ones.....I had two and they are all grown now ....I am about to be a first time grandma I am over the moon!! I am so glad I was kind to my babies are my two kids are very close to me and my best friends now!!!! A little love goes a long ways!
my first child was a boy so learning to change those diapers before getting sprayed was interesting
I don't have any as we are unable to have a child but my nephew and his partner are expecting their first so I would love to win this for them. I am sure they will have a few diaper stories to come. (Judy Cowan)
I was once changing my son on his change table when he was just a few weeks old, and suddenly a fresh batch of poop just came shooting out of him and hit all over my chest and stomach. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry.
My girls decided to take off their diapers and smear poo all over my parents' guest room! Yuck!
