...They are all ages, all races, all faiths.
They are doctors and teachers, farmers and bankers, soldiers and athletes.
And whether we know it, or whether we acknowledge it, they are our famly, our friends, and our neighbors.
Being gay is not a western invention. It is a human reality.
~ Hillary Clinton
I come from a Baptist-Christian family; attended church every Sunday growing up, prayers before meals and bedtime, evening devotions with the family, a father that was part of the deacons group...
The one thing that I never remember is the church or those around me (family/friends, etc.) hating or bashing on those that are gay - I'm eternally grateful for that.
I can be conservative, but you know what, that doesn't change how I feel about others based on their sexual orientation or their creed, race... even their musical taste (oh, he likes metal or rap music? Insert tacky judgemental comment here __________________.)
I don't need to be gay to be a supporter... I'm human. They're human.
And I still can't believe that to this day there are still people that don't get that.
In fact, I grew up with a close friend that is gay (I've know it all along since childhood), and my attitude towards him has never, ever changed.
Recently there was this image of a note circulating the digital world from a father to his gay son.
I was so touched by it because it shows the world how strong love really is...
in this case, between parent and child.
FCKH8.com, an equal rights organization, first posted the touching letter to Facebook on Friday morning. In the note, the father explains he overheard his son, Nate, talking on the phone about coming out. But the father tells him there is no need -- he already knew, and he never cared.
It's always nice to see things like this in the news, amongst the never ending hate and sadness that tend to creep up on our screens.
How sweet is this note? This father totally rocks.

I LOVE THIS POST!!! Not often do I see a blogger write about this, and I applaud you for doing so. You are even more awesome than I thought.
I'm gay and I'm proud.
This note was very touching. It is sad that it's 2013 and there are still uncertainties, hatred, confusion about Gay rights.
I read this note on another website -- thanks for sharing it on your blog.
Great post, love to letter to the son. Thanks for sharing. (Judy Cowan)
That is so touching and heartwarming and put in such a down to earth way by the father, love it!
